Tower/Antennae and Wind Turbine Course Descriptions:
HLR/PRT Tower/Antenna I and/or HLR/PRT Wind Turbine I: These classes have been designed to meet the requests from departments for a simple solution to tower/antenna and wind turbine rescues. The class will begin with a review of the 1926.500-503 OSHA standard for fall protection. In addition, the OSHA approved equipment to do the rescues will be discussed in detail. This class includes competent climber certification. There will be a review of rope rescue equipment, anchoring, knots, mechanical advantage systems (where applicable) and patient packaging . We will then progress to multiple scenarios designed to test the limits of both the students’ knowledge and ability to deal with adverse situations. This class will be both physically and mentally demanding so please come prepared. Class size limited to 18 students. Prerequisite for this class is HLR/PRT I/II No Exceptions. $475.00. Please call for out of state rates.
Students will need to bring their own helmet, boots, gloves, and headlamps. You should also bring any other personal gear that you already have, such as your rescue harness. HLR will provide all of the equipment that will be used. Optional: Goggles (or some form of eye protection) knee pads, thermos for water, etc.
Students will be responsible for their own lodging and meals. Upon receipt of your completed registration form and payment, a list of motels and a map of the local area will be forwarded to you along with your confirmation letter.
