PROFILE
MARK PHILLIPS, SENIOR INSTRUCTOR

Mark Phillips has been involved with high angle activities since 1987.  With a background in rappelling and rock climbing, it was
only obvious that he would make the transition into rope rescue when he entered the fire service in 1997.  For the past 16  years
Mark has been fortunate enough to align himself with Jerry Smith of Progressive Rescue Solutions, Inc.  As an associate
instructor for Jerry Smith, Mark continued to increase his knowledge through the continued testing of rope rescue equipment
and countless hours of hands on instruction.  In 2003, while continuing to assist Jerry, Mark began teaching his own classes.
The number of satisfied students continues to grow, as is evident by the increasing number of classes being taught yearly.
Working with experienced equipment manufacturer, Jerry Smith, has helped to keep Mark current on the latest equipment, as
has the opportunity to test this equipment in both a test setting as well as numerous real world settings.  As a firefighter Mark
knows the importance of quality equipment, and gets to see PRS equipment used first hand in real world experiences.
Mark currently resides in Lafayette, Indiana with his wife and two daughters.  He currently
serves as an Inspector/Investigator for
the Lafayette Fire Department
.  A number of fire departments, tactical rescue teams, police departments, and private
companies retain Mark as a consultant regarding their high-angle rescue, rappelling, confined space, and fall protection
programs.
Mark has had the honor of instructing for several federal agencies including the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, Federal
Aviation Administration, and the National Weather Service.  He has taught his courses in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
